About Us
Compact Equipment is a trade pub covering the smaller categories of construction machinery. Our gearheads operate, analyze and write about off-highway equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, utility vehicles, telehandlers and basically any diesel- or electric-powered construction machine (some landscape and ag too) that can be hauled on a trailer without a CDL. We dissect market trends, explain complex OEM systems, visit manufacturing facilities and tradeshows and dispense our insights to contractors, machine operators, fleet managers, rental houses, municipalities and even the manufacturers themselves.
On any given day, stories from Compact Equipment outlets ranged from how do you buy a grade control system for your mini excavator to a deep dive on off-highway diesel engine oils. Our editorial content is enjoyed on multiple media channels — print, web, email, webinars, social media, seminars and beyond. We print six times a year, blast out two e-newsletters nearly every week and usually post two to three times a day at stg-httpscompactequipcom-stage.kinsta.cloud. Editors travel the globe to visit machine makers like Caterpillar and Volvo, researching new machines, regulations, technologies and trends. Beyond the complete machine, our writers detail attachments and implements, OEM systems from engines to tires, vocational trucks, hand tools and business and tech issues that range from telematics to autonomy.
Compact Equipment magazine is published by Benjamin Media, Inc.
About Benjamin Media, Inc.
Benjamin Media Inc. (BMI) started as a vision of president and publisher Bernard Krzys in 1992. He saw that the emerging trenchless construction market needed a voice and launched Trenchless Technology magazine. The publication was designed for the people and businesses driving acceptance of trenchless technology in the construction market. Trenchless Technology was accepted immediately, and the publication grew from a bi-monthly to a monthly publication in two years.
In 2012, Bernie passed the baton to son and new President, Robert Krzys (left), and Meghan Squires (middle), Rob’s daughter, joined BMI in 2014.
Today, BMI is a multi-faceted business-to-business media company in markets ranging from construction to water infrastructure. It is dedicated to meeting the expectations of its readers, advertisers, vendors and all stakeholders in the markets it serves. BMI has found success identifying and promoting emerging markets through quality publications and innovative exhibitions and conference programs.
